Shared Existence

By

We dream side by side in
the cedar-lined hush.
Hidden up where
the high desert bluffs
sway sparse pines,
and thrill the charred oaks.

Just the two of us here
and the odd
wandering deer,
where the air and our minds
are quiet and clear.

Sun rays paint the cabin
in bold gold streaks of shine
as we laze the long days away,
assured that I am yours
and you are mine.

Steady beats my tired heart
when dusty blue dusk drapes
the cliffs in half-dark.
Lighting sparks
the evening sky,
not too far
in the distance.

And so we watch
the coming storm
at ease in our
shared
existence.
