Scattering

By

Teaspoon birds
flutter on the
soft wind.

Their bouncy flock
traveling from
hedge to
wild hedge-
landing, preening,
chattering before
taking off again.

When they rest
amongst the
brambles,
from the ground below,
they appear to be
fat ornaments in
their Yuletide pose.

A feathery show
of scatter
and reunion
in the days’
dimming glow.

Here, just a handful
of teaspoon birds,
while elsewhere,
man wars.

Watch them
scatter, reunite,
sit pretty for a time,
only to
scatter far
once more.
