Eulogy for the Living

By

To the man in the
navy blue blazer,
cologned by
minty mouthwash
and coffee-

To the boy who dives
valiantly
to retrieve
sunken mood rings
tossed accidentally
mid-fish feed-

To the woman
in the coral
cashmere sweater,
eyes of hazel,
heart of heather-

And finally,
to the girl donning
petal pink tights,
and eyes alight,
wondering-

May all of you
rest peacefully,
though our chests
still beat, they
are long deceased
except
in memory.
