You can not shed light
on the shadows of life
in perpetuity
and be remiss
when sage buds twist
into fists of
incredulity.
You can not arrange
someone a bouquet
of knowing
and expect them
to learn the
true toil
of growing.
Think of films where
the moon is strung
cartoonishly
bright
in set skies.
A child can view
those movie moons
a hundred
silver times-
sure they
know the moon,
but scarcely
recognize
the dime that shines
above their heads
transforming
every night.
Let them grow
and let them know
true flowers
and
true moons.
For insights forced
are all divorced
from grasping
through
and through.
