Pyrocene

We are fire-
spreading like flame,
eating energy cached
in Jurrasic graves,
changing every landscape
we lick with our singe,
burning and turning
environments into
razed greys and rubble.

We are fire-
when contained and intimate,
our flicker can save
and illuminate even
the most sun-sapped days.
We huddle around
each other’s warmth,
hearts like hearths-
lifegiving.

But untamed
and in mass
we smother,
catch like a virus,
kill all we discover.

We are fire-
consuming, and bright-
infinitely feeding
on fodder finite.
