This place bursts with snakes
that wake to hiss and chase
their own tails with their own fangs
day after day
after day.

Snakes that wake and meditate,
then gulp pulse-spurring coffee.
Snakes that race each morning
to coil before blue screens.

Voracious and salacious,
these snakes slither
like live wreaths—
round and round,
they writhe in their
self-devouring.
